GRASSROOTS LOCAL MARKET RECEIVES $25k LOAN FROM LADC
Lynchburg Area Development Corporation (LADC) has committed a $25,000 loan to the Lynchburg Food Cooperative known as Grassroots Local Market.
Jimmy Watts, President, George Vermilya, Vice President and Lyons Davidson, Treasurer, of LADC are long-time supporters of the community-owned grocery.
The LADC Board released this statement regarding support of downtown cooperative, “Grassroots Local Market is a critical service needed to continue the successful development of Downtown Lynchburg. We are pleased to announce $25,000 in financing to assist Grassroots in opening this summer.”
LADC has been involved in economic development in the City of Lynchburg for over 50 years. Other investments have included funding for Craddock Terry Hotel and numerous industrial shell buildings throughout the Lynchburg Area.
While Grassroots Local Market has confirmed they have reached their initial fundraising goal and will open this summer, the cooperative grocery store is still accepting memberships.
The Lynchburg Food Cooperative, known as Grassroots Local Market, is a community-owned natural food grocery and eatery slated to open in Downtown Lynchburg this summer. The co-op will be open to the public and will specialize in locally-sourced food. Grassroots Local Market aims to provide convenient and healthy food options to support and sustain a thriving Lynchburg community.
